What is User Story to Effort Predictor (USeP) for Jira Cloud?

Writing User stories is an easy method of maintaining requirements in a dynamic development environment. Jira provides development teams to Plan, track and manage agile and software development projects.

UseP Jira has a mindblowing feature to break down User Stoy into its engineering tasks

Enter user stories in the standard format & USeP will break it down to engineering tasks

USeP automatically generates task estimation based on ML-based analytics.

Competencies of individuals and teams is used to realistically derive estimations for a User Story.

USeP automatically fine-tune estimates based on footprints

•Footsprints are the effort needed to perform a task. This input is used by the USeP engine to continuously learn and improve estimates

Installing the USeP Jira plugin is simple. Download the plug-in from the marketplace and it gets installed automatically

Configure projects for USeP Jira Plugin

Create a project in Jira. Add users to the project roles within the project

Add team members to the role 'SE' and set their competencies

Add Project Description

Adding project description helps the backend USeP engine to generate the project attributes influencing the estimates.

Click on the USeP Project Configuration link in order to link the project to USeP, enabling task and estimate generation.

Enable USeP Jira Configuration for the project by saving the Project attributes.

Add User Competencies by Click on USeP Project Team Setting link in the left navigation

  • Click on Add competency

  • Select member and then rest of the fields and then click on Save

Creating tasks from User Stories and Estimate

Create tasks from USer Stories automatically.

Create a User Story in Jira. Click on the User Story to Task

Review the predicted tasks using the User Story to Task link. Add new tasks or edit tasks and Accept

Estimate (from backend) of selected Tasks will be listed. View the Estimate for the tasks associated with the User Story

PM can accept or override the model estimate and view an aggregate estimate for the User Story

Review & Re-estimate assigned tasks

  • The developer can access the task assigned or create a task for himself.

  • Confirm the attributes using USeP Task Confirmation

 

Commit to Task estimates

Access 'USeP Task Estimate' to view Model, PM estimates to commit My_Estimate

My Estimate is a placeholder for the developer to commit to an estimate

  • Click on the Add button to add an estimate.

  • My Estimate can be changed and saved multiple times

  • To commit an estimate, press the Commit button.

Mark tasks are done and log footprints

  • Select the issue you want to log time on

  • Time spent in the aggregate amount of time that has been logged against this issue

  • Select the issue you want to mark done
